Medical content presents unique challenges for copy editors. Whether the material is scientific or general, marketing or scholarly, understanding its format and style is part of the job. This session will introduce specific medical content structures, AMA style issues, common terminology and scientific resources to support accurate editing. Participants will gain a sense of how to approach copyediting tasks for medical content and how to build their skills in this area.

Jeni Crockett-Holme is a copy editor and production editor specializing in scientific, technical and medical content and is certified by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) as an editor in the life sciences. She has more than 15 years of experience editing daily news, professional journals, corporate communications and scholarly manuscripts. In her spare time, Jeni ice skates and supports her friends' artistic endeavors.
