Melanie Padgett Powers is the owner of MelEdits in the Washington, D.C., area. She is a writer, managing editor, copy editor and proofreader. She has written for the American Optometric Association, Georgetown Business magazine, Bethesda Magazine, Cleveland Clinic, Indiana University Health System, Society of Interventional Radiology and more. Before becoming an entrepreneur in 2013, she was a health writer and editor at membership associations for 13 years. She started her career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Indiana, her home state and where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Franklin College.
